SJ Berwin (Pat Jones) has completed the formation of a joint venture for Gazeley Properties with MetLife Real Estate to develop new distribution facilities at Gazeley’s Magna Park UK in Leicestershire and at its G.Parks, located in Bedford and Hemel Hempstead. The joint venture is financed by MetLife and Gazeley, with additional debt having been secured from HBOS. Osborne Clarke (Henry Minto) acted for Gazeley, Clifford Chance (Richard Margree, assisted by Vanessa Collier) represented MetLife and Taylor Wessing (Simon Lovell) advised HBOS.
Nabarro Nathanson (Andrew Inkester) acted for the management team of the InnSpired Group on the sale of InnSpired Group Limited to Punch Taverns in a deal valued at £355m, including the assumption of £258m of debt, £239m of which is securitised. The InnSpired Group comprises a pub estate of 1,064 outlets. Slaughter and May represented Punch Taverns.

Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw’s Frankfurt office (Jörg Wulfken, Manfred Heemann) has advised US private equity firm Lone Star on the acquisition of a portfolio of real estate loans from German mortgage lender Hypo Real Estate (HRE) worth €3.6bn (£2.46bn). It is thought to be the largest worldwide sale of such loans. HRE advised by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (Hans-Joerg Ziegenhain).
