Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) has appointed its first general counsel with the hire of Citigroup global general counsel for non-resident Indian wealth management Aneta Polk.

Polk joins ICG, which specialises in providing mezzanine finance for the private equity industry, as general counsel and company secretary.

Investment funds have been busy taking on in-housers in recent months in response to the likelihood of increasing regulation.

This year Candover Investments recruited SRM Global chief executive Philip Price as general counsel, while Apax Partners has also begun the search for a head of legal.

FTSE-listed ICG reported in 2008 that it had €9.2bn (£8.25bn) under management. Managing director Tom Attwood has been bullish about ICG’s prospects during the credit crisis.
