One of Tulkinghorn’s scribes was left in a state of shock and awe after hearing of the luxury that a number of Linklaters‘ corporate partners enjoy when they travel between the firm’s offices in Germany.
He heard tell of luxury private lounges at the airport, separate even from the business class lounges, serving only the finest food and champagne.
He learnt of how, after being wined and dined, the partners are chauffeur driven in a blacked-out Mercedes or Porsche straight to the plane and helped into their first-class seats. He discovered that these super beings do not go through security – security goes to them.
It is all thanks to Lufthansa’s ‘black card’, which gains you entry into the HON Circle, the most exclusive airline club in Europe. There are at least two or three German Links partners that have the card, having racked up 600,000 air miles. Some say they’re saving up for their own plane.
