DLA Piper for Euro GC role with US consultancy” />Former DLA Piper partner and Virgin legal chief Helena Samaha has taken up a new role as European general counsel at financial consultancy AlixPartners.
The US company has appointed Samaha as general counsel for Europe, based in Paris. She left DLA Piper in September to move to Paris with her family.
Samaha said: “It is a newly created role. I expect it to evolve over time but as general counsel for Europe I’ll be responsible for all legal and risk management matters.”
Samaha will report to AlixPartners general counsel and managing director John Collins, who said: “We are pleased that Helena has joined AlixPartners. She will bring her outstanding talents and broad legal experience to the firm as we continue to grow our business and solve our clients’ challenges around the world.”
AlixPartners has a legal team of seven based in the US. It has turned to several UK law firms in the past, and maintains close links with Eversheds in particular.
Samaha was based in the technology, media and commercial group at DLA Piper, where she headed the London commercial team. She joined the firm after a seven-year stint at Virgin as group legal director.
AlixPartners offers financial advice and restructuring consultancy for large and middle-market corporate clients. Its headquarters are in Michigan and it has offices across the US and Europe as well as Shanghai and Tokyo.
