Kemp Little overhaul sees focus on new practice areas” />Technology boutique Kemp Little is embarking on a recruitment drive following the recent completion of a wide-ranging strategic review.
The push forms part of a strategic overhaul at the nine-partner firm, spearheaded by management consultant Alan Hodgart, which revamped the firm’s equity partner agreement.
This included a move to a modified lockstep, which introduced performance management for all the firm’s lawyers, and put in place a new management board to run the firm.
The board consists of Kemp Little’s three practice group heads – Calum Murray in commercial, Lucy Vernall in corporate and David Williams in employment – operations partner Siobhan McElhinney, finance director Chris Hawley and Richard Kemp.
Former managing partner and firm founder Kemp has become senior partner, assuming a more external-facing role while continuing in a full-time fee-earning role.
The overhaul coincides with the exit of partner David Meredith, who is joining SJ Berwin at the end of December to ramp up the firm’s focus on outsourcing.
Kemp Little is targeting competition and litigation as new practice areas, and is also recruiting a technology analyst, who will be tasked with deepening the technology knowledge of its lawyers as a method of differentiating the practice.
