A woman has started High Court action for the return of videos showing her in sexual acts. Clare Denton, of London SE10, issuing Stephen Graham, of London SE18. She seeks an injunction restraining him from communicating to anyone secrets relating to her private life, personal affairs, or private conduct communicated to him in confidence and not hitherto made public property. She also seeks an injunction restraining him from publishing, divulging or disclosing the existence, substance, or contents of any video tapes showing sexual acts or conduct on her part. Virgin Enterprises, Virgin Atlantic Airways, and 27 other companies have launched High Court action against Virgin Cola, and Elfin Management, both of Swansea, and Ulrich Huning, of Moorside, Oldham. The Virgin companies seek an injunction restraining them from offering, advertising, selling or dealing with any soft drinks bearing any name similar to Virgin, or passing off their business or goods as being in any way associated with Virgin companies. They are also asking for an order that Virgin Cola should change its name to one not including the word Virgin. Writ issued by Harbottle & Lewis, London W1.
Babcock Construction is suing three trade unions for more than u0.5 million as a result of a six-day work stoppage by 400 workers on the Sizewell B power station in 1992. its writ says the workers refused to work between 9 and 15 June, although their stoppage lacked ballot support as required by the Employment Act 1984. Being sued are the Amalgamated Engineering and Electrical Union, the General Mun- icipal Boilermakers and Allied Trades Union, and the Manufacturing Science and Finance Union. The claim is for the costs of the strike which is put at u542,373. The writ accuses the unions of encouraging strikers, all hourly paid workers, to breach employment contracts. Jane Green, who gave birth to a daughter 11 months after undergoing a sterilisation operation, has launched High Court action against Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust. Mrs Green, who already had three children, underwent a laparoscopic sterilisation on 16 August 1991, but the writ says that on 5 July 1992 she gave birth to her fourth child, a daughter.
