Roschier makes double hire from Cederquist for new Swedish office

Finnish firm Roschier Holmberg has raided Swedish firm Cederquist for two partners to launch its new Swedish office in Stockholm.

As first revealed by The Lawyer (4 July), Roschier recruited Axel Calissendorf, head of M&A at Slaughter and May‘s Swedish best friend Mannheimer Swartling, in July to head its Stockholm office, which will open in February 2006.

Calissendorf, a former president of the Swedish Bar Association, was given a brief to recruit for the new office and has started that process with the hire of partners Lars Johansson and Ola Ahman from Cederquist.

Johansson was head of the EU and competition department and Ahman specialises in transactional matters. The co-head of Roshier’s transaction and finance practice group Ulf-Henrik Kull will be seconded to Stockholm.

Roschier is aiming to recruit around 15 lawyers for opening day. The firm has signed a lease for its office facilities.

The Finnish firm launched RoschierRaidla, a Baltic alliance of firms with offices in Estonia, Finland, Latvia and Lithuania, in April 2004. The success of that alliance encouraged the firm to launch in Sweden.
