Wilberforce Chambers senior clerk Declan Redmond has stepped down as the chair of the Institute of Barristers’ Clerks (IBC) following a rejig of its executive committee.
Redmond has been replaced by the vice-chair Gary Brown, senior clerk at criminal set 15 New Bridge Street. David Barnes, director of clerking at 39 Essex Street, has stepped up to the vice-chair role, while 9 Gough Square senior clerk Michael Goodridge takes over from Crown Office Chambers’ Paul Flanagan as education secretary.
“There are many changes facing the legal profession over the next few years and I feel sure that the IBC will have a major role to play in the shaping of its future,” said Brown.
Redmond added: “I can now look back with pride at how far the IBC has progressed and how the role of the barrister’s clerk is now accepted as a major part of the justice system.”
