Dundas promotes six again but women miss out

Dundas & Wilson has promoted six lawyers to its partnership, with half of the new promotions in the corporate group.

The firm also made two promotions in the banking group, with one other new partner in real estate.

Dundas co-managing partner Donald Shaw, based in London, said the promotions in corporate and banking reflected confidence at the firm despite widespread fears of a market downturn.

“It’s so far so good, but who knows?” he said.

“There are crystal balls and crystal balls, but we’re doing well at the moment and we are ahead of the budget we set ourselves last year. We’re not complacent, but we take a medium to long-term view.”

All six of the new partners are men, but follow a promotion round last year in which four women were promoted and two men.

Three of the new partners are in Edinburgh, the other three in London.

The new partners are effective from 1 May, and will bring the total partnership to 86 members.

In the three-year period from 2004-05 to 2006-07, Dundas promoted eight partners, none of whom were in either the corporate or banking teams.

The promotions in full are:

Douglas Land
Stuart MacLean
Greig Williamson

Alan Fulton
Michael Wrigley
