Garrigues, the Spanish member of the now defunct Andersen Legal network, has joined the World Services Group (WSG) network.

The WSG is a loose referral network for many organisations with a legal arm. At the moment there are no French or German firms in it. Burges Salmon is the UK member firm.

Garrigues partner Ramon Bustillo said: “This is something that is good to do, but it is not the solution to building an international network.”

Bustillo said that the firm joined WSG mainly because there were a lot of Latin American firms in the network.

He said that Garrigues is also in talks with a number of key firms in each Latin American country with a view to setting up a best friends network in the region.

In London, Garrigues has referral relationships with most of the big firms who do not have a presence in Spain, such as Herbert Smith, Lovells and Norton Rose.
