US firm LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & Macrae has recruited former Theodore Goddard corporate finance partner Charles Ashton.
He will be joining Washington-based partner Charles Landgraf, who returns to the London office after a five-year absence. He headed the London office in 1991.
Ashton left Theodore Goddard three weeks ago and will be joining LeBoeufs' London office by 4 February as the fifth English partner.
Landgraf said the moves reflected the firm's commitment to Europe and the former Soviet Union.
The firm, established in London since 1975, was one of the first to take advantage of the Law Society rule changes allowing multinational partnerships.
Simon Stubbings, managing partner at Theodore Goddard, said he was grateful for the work Ashton had done for the firm as an assistant who rose to partnership level.
“We wish Ashton all the best for the future,” added Stubbings.
“Our corporate finance department is generally buoyant and large enough to absorb the move, so there are no immediate plans to replace him.”
