Anglo-Scots firm HBJ Gateley Wareing has launched a new Glasgow employment team with a hire from BT.

Robert King joins the firm as a partner after 14 years as senior solicitor in BT’s employment and advocacy team, part of BT’s local legal services division.

The hire follows HBJ’s appointment to BT’s general panel for England and Scotland following the telecoms giant’s panel review in April, as first reported on www.the lawyer.com (6 March). Other firms retained include Addleshaw Goddard, Bird & Bird and Linklaters, while Allen & Overy and Wragge & Co were axed.

However, HBJ suffered a raid by Nottingham firm Berryman last week. As first reported on www.thelawyer. com (26 October), Berryman poached insolvency lawyers Sue Lowry and Carl Mifflin to launch a reorganisation and recovery team. Lowry joined as an associate and Mifflin as a solicitor.
