Norton Rose has advised Workspace throughout its growth from a small industrial and office space provider to a large plc, including its 1993 flotation. The company specialises in flexible lease arrangements and now provides accommodation for some 3,000 small and medium-sized businesses in London, the South East and the Midlands, many of them in the e-commerce and high-tech manufacturing sectors.

Lindsay Morgan won the client in a beauty parade in 1987. She now heads international real estate at Norton Rose and remains relationship partner to Workspace.

Workspace uses a number of smaller firms for lettings, but Norton Rose acts as its principal legal adviser.

The sale of Ensign Court, which is let to News International and Oddbins, is an example of the company’s strategy of selling up when active management opportunities have been realised and then putting the proceeds into new acquisitions.
