Hill Dickinson hires equity partner from Manchester firm Berg Legal

Hill Dickinson has hired Jonathan Dover from fellow Manchester firm Berg Legal, where he was an equity partner.

He joins as a property partner. Mike Blakey, head of the Manchester property team at Hill Dickinson, said: “It’s encouraging in the current climate to experience more expansion within the property and construction practice group.”



• Dawsons has recruited three new assistants, expanding its family and litigation departments. Julian Bremner joins the family team from Lloyd Platt & Co with Theo Hoppen from DWF, while litigator Mark Sullivan arrives from Eversheds.

• Trowers & Hamlins has promoted seven ­associates to partner. They are: Amy Shaw,

Kyle Holling, Suzanne Benson, Rebecca Rees, Charles Wilson, Bill Jeffries and Guy Danalis.


• National law firm network LawNet has appointed three new heads of department. Alex Jones of East Sussex-based Bunkers Solicitors becomes head of employment, while Mogers partner Frank Collins and Darbys partner Claire Jones become head of agriculture and residential property respectively.


• Fiona Debney has been made head of ­Challinors’ wills, trusts and probate team, replacing partner David Corser.


• Hill Dickinson has expanded its healthcare team by hiring assistants Kristina Taylor and Louise Wilson from Mills & Reeve and RMNJ Solicitors respectively.

• Lancashire-based Harrison Drury has taken on real estate associate Owen McKenna from DWF.

• Claire Newburn has joined Newcastle-based Gibson & Co Solicitors as an associate in its ­litigation team. She was previously with Clark Willis in Darlington.

• Lupton Fawcett has launched a new specialist property litigation team led by three lawyers from the firm’s real estate department. The team will be led by director Ian Coupland and includes senior associates James Naylor and Hayden Glynn.

• Cheshire-based Rowlinsons Solicitors ­managing partner Denis Stevenson has been elected as president of the Cheshire & North Wales Law Society.


• Alan Stewart has joined HBJ Gateley Wareing as a corporate partner and Glasgow head. He was formerly managing partner at Burness, but left in 2002 to become an independent business consultant.


• Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has taken on public procurement lawyer Fridhelm Marx as an of counsel in Berlin. He was previously with the German Federal Ministry of Economics.

• Latham & Watkins has made up two to the partnership in Europe, Eric Barbier de la Serre in the Brussels litigation group and Juan Manuel de Remedios in the Madrid corporate department.

Asia and Middle east

• Australian firm Blake Dawson has hired Greg Terry as a partner. He will be based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Prior to his appointment, Terry spent the previous five years at Morgan Stanley, where he was CEO for Asia.

• Former Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer City associate Daniel Kalderimis has moved back to New Zealand to rejoin Chapman Tripp, where he will be a principle in the Wellington litigation team.

• Litigation counsel Daiske Yoshida has been promoted to the partnership by Latham & Watkins in Tokyo.


• Thomas Dupree has rejoined Gibson Dunn & Crutcher as a litigation partner in Washington DC. He had been working for the US ­Department of Justice as principle deputy assistant attorney general.

• Bingham McCutchen has raided DLA Piper’s New York office for three real estate finance and litigation partners, Richard Fries, Todd Marcus and Scott Stern.

• K&L Gates has expanded its office in

Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, by hiring ­pharmaceuticals partner Michael Hinckle. He was previously general counsel at Synthon ­Pharmaceuticals.

• Competition associate Andrea Agathoklis has rejoined Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer after three years as adviser to the commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission. She will be based in Washington DC.

• 11 Stone Buildings insolvency junior Sally ­Barber has been appointed as a bankruptcy ­registrar of the High Court.


• The NEC Group has hired Emma Dickson to its in-house team. She was previously an assistant at Browne Jacobson.
