After spending seven months without a senior partner, Masons is to hold elections for the role. The partnership has spent six months in consultation over what form the role should take and even whether it should continue to exist at all.
After finally reaching agreement that the firm should have a senior partner, the frontrunners have already emerged. The Lawyer can reveal that all of them work out of the firm’s construction department. They are partners Tony Bunch, Peter Wood, Mar-tin Roberts, Chris Dering and Martin Harman.
Masons has been without a senior partner since partner John Bishop stepped down in November last year. He now heads the firm’s Asian practice after spending 12 years as senior partner.
The firm has struggled to find a replacement for Bishop. “The firm needs a leader – someone to rally the troops,” said a source familiar with the firm.
