In brief: SPG warns on conveyancing system

The Solicitors Property Group (SPG) has repeated concerns about estate agent Hambros Countrywide's intention to offer conveyancing services to customers through licensed conveyancers. Hambros has promised to have the system operating by April this year and an SPG council meeting in late December 1996 again expressed concern that the Law Society was not moving fast enough to lift restrictive practices on solicitors. SPG executive officer Leslie Dubow has asked for immediate meetings with senior Law Society officials, including president Tony Girling, to discuss the issue.
