… as litigation partner opts for Brabners

Halliwell Landau commercial litigation partner Paul Morton has joined North West firm Brabners as a salaried partner.

Morton, who was a junior salaried partner at Halliwells for four years, stated that one reason he moved was to speed up his career progression.
“I'm still a salaried partner at Brabners,” he said. When asked if he would like to be an equity partner, Morton replied: “One reason for the move is to move forward within the profession.”
Morton is now one of four commercial litigation partners at Brabners. He trained at Freshfields (now Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer), where he qualified as an assistant. He left for regional giant Halliwells in 1996, where he joined as an assistant, and was made up to a partner at that firm within a year.
Halliwells managing partner Paul Thomas declined to comment on Morton's departure.
