Election fever is the topic of the day.
Local elections for positions in English local authorities and the Welsh Assembly are currently being decided.
But the big one is north of the border. In Scotland, elections for the 129 members of the Scottish Parliament are underway in a bid to decide who should lead the country, possibly into a Celtic version of splendid isolation.
One keenly fought competition has already been decided. The Scottish Executive’s legal panel, under review since the beginning of the year, has left eight firms “delighted” and others out in the cold.
Big four players McGrigors and Shepherd & Wedderburn in particular will have been weeping into their porridge this week after missing out.
But maybe Camerons should have done that Paull & Williamsons deal after all? Who knows, that extra bit of Aberdeen muscle might just have swung it…
