Blackstone Chambers’ joint head of chambers Ian Mill QC is something of a frustrated actor, Tulkinghorn has learnt.
While at university Mill made every effort to secure a role as an extra in the 1980s classic Chariots of Fire, which was being filmed in his college and ultimately went on to win an Oscar. Unfortunately for Mill he was overlooked for what he described as “less attractive people”.
Since then he has dreamt of one day landing himself a part as an extra. Now Mill’s dream has finally been realised. After winning an auction at footballer Frank Lampard’s recent Teenage Cancer Trust dinner, the silk and his wife will be appearing as extras in a Hollywood film later this year.
The film is yet to be decided, although Mill apparently stumped up “a substantial amount”. Let’s hope he gets a big part.
