The Osborne Westphalen Alliance (OWA) will cease to exist following a breakdown in relations between German firm Graf von Westphalen and Osborne Clarke.
Talks were abandoned after the integration process slowed and Osborne Clarke made an offer to a number of partners in the Cologne office of Graf von Westphalen.
Nine partners from Graf von Westphalen have agreed to join Osborne Clarke, including Rudolf Hübner-Weingarten, Stefan Rizor and Ralf Schisser.
Relations reached a low point last week when name partner Fredrich Graf von Westphalen said that the partners had made a mistake in leaving. He says: “We agreed that we’d remain as an independent German co-partnership and that we shouldn’t answer to London or Bristol.”
Osborne Clarke managing partner Leslie Perrin says: “We’ll replace OWA with a new alliance, but I’m sure it will have all the same members. The only difference will be that the firm in Germany will be called Osborne Clarke.”
