Masons has hired its first corporate partner in Scotland from leading Scottish firm Dickson Minto.
Derek Stroud will be working primarily with the firm’s fast-growing IT client base, but will also work with construction and energy clients.
Until now, the corporate requirements of the firm’s Scottish-based clients have been handled from its London and Leeds offices.
Alistair Morrison, joint managing partner at Masons in Scotland, says: “We recognised that we needed a corporate presence to take advantage of what we’re doing in IT and in construction.
“If you’ve got a client base here that’s demanding corporate advice, then you need to have high-level corporate support on the ground.”
Stroud brings particular experience working for clients investing in the IT sector.
His appointment is part of a rapid expansion since Masons’ launch in Glasgow three years ago, when the backbone of its practice came from McGrigor Donald and Dundas & Wilson. Since then it has grown from four to 32 fee-earners and opened an office in Edinburgh.
