Cravath Swaine & Moore is planning to ramp up its London disputes capability less than a year after litigation partner John Beerbower relocated to the UK to launch a contentious capability.
The success of the New York elite firm’s decision to maintain a full-time dispute resolution presence in London has convinced it of the need to grow both at associate and partner level.
“I expect to have at least one associate here by March next year with the possibility of another soon after,” Beerbower said.
Since Beerbower moved to London earlier this year, Cravath has picked up a number of disputes for European clients that it claims it would not have won when its UK capability was exclusively transactional.
As Beerbower also handles competition matters, his presence in London offers Cravath’s transactional lawyers immediate support on London corporate deals.
