Willkie Farr & Gallagher is spearheading a move into the compliance field after scooping two partners from Foley & Lardner.
Martin Weinstein and Robert Meyer will lead the firm’s new compliance and enforcement group, based within Willkie Farr’s rapidly expanding Washington office.
Weinstein, a former assistant US attorney in the fraud section of the Northern District of Georgia, will chair the practice. Working closely with Weinstein, Meyer will leverage off his extensive experience which includes serving as a federal prosecutor for over 10 years.
The moves are just two in a series of laterals Willkie Farr has made in its Washington office. Just last month, the firm recruited the former Delaware Bank Commissioner Timothy McTaggart as a partner in its corporate and financial services practice.
While its environmental department recently gained a new practice leader when Donald Elliott, the former general counsel of the US Environmental Protection Agency.
Outside of the US, Willkie Farr has been making a concerted push into Continental Europe after taking on four partners in Paris, Milan and Brussels (The Lawyer, 1 September).
