Greenberg Traurig Maher (GTM) has scored a full-service mandate advising former Eversheds client Oak Holdings on a major regeneration scheme.
AIM-listed Oak Holdings has instructed GTM on corporate, environment, real estate and tax matters related to the £350m YES! Project in South Yorkshire.
YES! is a 329-acre leisure development, including an extreme sports facility, indoor wave surfing, hotels and parkland.
Head of real estate Tim Webb brought the client to GTM when he joined the firm from Eversheds at the end of last year (The Lawyer, 2 November 2009).
“It’s a fantastic project and, in this market, one of only a handful that has the momentum and backing to move forward,” said Webb. “I’m delighted to be retained following my move to GTM. It’s a huge endorsement of my move and [London chairman] Paul Maher’s ambition to develop a leading real estate practice alongside the firm’s notable M&A, capital markets, project finance and restructuring offerings.”
He added: “It’s testament to the fact you can drive top-end real estate work in a firm with US roots.”
GTM is advising on restrictive covenants and is expected to start talks with Network Rail over bridge structures on the site.
Bevan Brittan partner Alison Buckingham is advising Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.
