SJ Berwin has also managed to win back private equity partners Jonathan Pittal and Perry Yam, who had resigned to go to Olswang.
Their final decision came following a partnership vote on Monday night (26 April), which saw the pair promoted into SJ Berwin’s equity.
Dugdale spent two years at A&O, which involved a combination of training and fee-earning; prior to that she was a partner at Olswang, where she headed up the investment funds practice.
The move represents a return to SJ Berwin for Dugdale, who was an assistant with the firm in the venture capital group.
Dugdale’s hire, plus the promotion of John Skoulding to the partnership, sees the number of tax partners at the firm rise from five to seven. Head of tax Heather Corben said the firm had been looking to increase numbers to help cope with the amount of work in the department.
“We were on the lookout for another senior partner, particularly on the private equity side,” said Corben.
Dugdale joins SJ Berwin on 1 September.
