American firm Bryan Cave has hired the co-managing partner of US rival Hogan & Hartson’s Hong Kong office, Mao Tong.
Tong joins Bryan Cave less than three years after helping Hogan to launch its Hong Kong base in September 2005. He joins Bryan Cave as a partner.
Tong’s practice focuses on corporate, cross-border M&A, private equity, securities and international joint venture.
Bryan Cave chairman Don Lents said: “The addition of Mao Tong provides our clients with the enhanced expertise and depth needed to conduct business in Asia’s largest financial market.”
Bryan Cave opened in Hong Kong in 1994 and in Shanghai in 1996.
The firm expanded its Asia offering in 2005 with the creation of Bryan Cave International Trade LLC (BCIT) and, more recently through its affiliation with China’s Alpha & Leader law firm in December 2007 (The Lawyer, 17 December 2007).
