Clifford Chance partner; launches Dubai real estate team” />Real estate partner Arthur Dyson is leaving Clifford Chance for arch rival Allen & Overy.
Dyson will join the London-based real estate finance team, where he will report to Mark O’Neill, and team up once again with former Clifford Chance colleague Robert Porter.
Porter denied that this was an unusual time to be growing the real estate finance practice. He said: “You don’t pass by someone of that skill and capability, you have to take more than a short-term view. Arthur is a man of such capabilities that he will always have work.”
O’Neill said: “Arthur’s appointment underlines our commitment to the real estate finance sector, greatly strengthening our position in the market. Arthur has developed an enviable reputation in the market and will be a tremendous asset to the group.”
This comes with news that A&O plans to launch an international real estate team out of Dubai from the end of this month, with a view to targeting middle east-based investors. The practice will focus on real estate funds, JV and acquisitions.
The team will be headed by Porter, and will initially comprise of one other senior associate. But Porter commented that he had plans to recruit widely and was “optimistic about the growth potential.”
