LeBoeuf raises NQ salaries in London to match US peers

LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & MacRae has matched other US firms in London by raising its newly qualified (NQs) salary to £75,000.

The US firm has raised its NQ salary by £10,000 on its previous rate, and increased trainee salaries up from £33,000 and £37,000 for first and second years to £36,000 and £39,000 respectively.

This compares with the benchmark of £55,000 for NQs within UK firms, including Clifford Chance and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

LeBoeuf’s NQs salary increase matches Weil Gotshal & Manges earlier rise to £75,000, first revealed in The Lawyer (26 June).

But LeBoeuf has surpassed its New York rival for two year PQE salaries, bringing the mid-point of the two year PQE band to £87,500. This compares to £86,500 offered by Weil Gotshal.

The salary rises follow a wave of increases by several US firms in London earlier in the year. At the time Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton increased its NQ salaries for UK lawyers to £85,000, one of the highest in the City.
