French firm Gide Loyrette Nouel has continued its push into Asia by launching an office in Hong Kong.
The firm is now fully operational in Hong Kong after successfully securing an operating licence earlier this year. It already has offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Hanoi, with about 10 per cent of the firm’s 640 lawyers now practising out of China.
Gide was not the only French firm opening in China, with independent Bignon Lebray launching a practice with the hire of a partner from Haarmann Hemmelrath and the opening of a new office in Shanghai.
The firm is set to open a Shanghai office later this year, tipped for September, alongside Chinese firm Beacon. Beacon is a recent recruit to the international network Meritas, to which Bignon also belongs.
