DaimlerChrysler UK’s (DCUK) general counsel Chrissi Evans had her hands full in 2004. The affable lawyer, who has 10 years’ in-house experience behind her, has been responsible for making astute changes to DCUK’s legal function and the company’s relationship with external lawyers to ensure they deliver the best advice.
In response to the growth in DCUK’s retail division, Evans has recruited to add weight to the company’s in-house team, which has since expanded its remit to include property transactions and compliance matters.
Last year Evans also made sweeping changes to DCUK’s relationships with external lawyers following an extensive tender process, resulting in the appointment of preferred advisers. Following the review, Evans invited lawyers and support staff from DCUK’s law firms to attend an open day to help guests learn more about the company and its products.
The new relationships also resulted in DCUK receiving free secondees from the company’s law firms.
And as if to confirm her standing in the industry, Evans was appointed chair of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
