Justin Bickle was made up to special counsel at Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft only last February, but he has already made his mark as one of the rising stars of Cadwalader’s stellar bondholder practice.
As a reward, Bickle, who is a protégé of top bondholder lawyer Andrew Wilkinson, was made up to the equity last month – a rare reward, and proof of the estimation in which he is held.
Bickle advised the bondholder committees on the Polestar debt restructuring and on the TXU restructuring. He is also second in command to Wilkinson on the high-profile MyTravel restructuring.
Cadwalader lost out to old rivals on MyTravel in November when the High Court ruled that MyTravel could proceed with its restructuring in the face of opposition from the bondholders.
The rebel bondholders appealed the decision in December. At the time of the Hot 100 going to press, the result was not known. But only a very brave lawyer would write off a Bickle-Wilkinson combination. Truly formidable.
