IT consultancy Capgemini UK has expanded its legal panel following a review, handing SJ Berwin its first role on the roster to advise on dispute resolution.

SJ Berwin IT litigation partner Michael Bywell will become the firm’s relationship partner for Capgemini.

Capgemini UK general counsel Jane Bevan said: “We’ve appointed SJ Berwin to our panel for dispute resolution. We did a review – a panel review is too formal a name for it. We were just looking to add a bit more choice in dispute resolution.” Capgemini’s full corporate and commercial panel comprises Beachcroft, Blake Lapthorn Tarlo Lyons, Bristows, Technology Law Alliance and Wragge & Co, with Pinsent Masons and Shakespeare Putsman advising on employment matters.

“We’re very pleased with the legal support we get with our firms,” stressed Bevan. “We just wanted to have a bit of a wider choice.”

Capgemini’s last full panel review was in 2004, when the company expanded its roster from three firms to seven.

Bevan did not rule out hiring a dispute resolution head in the future. “We did consider it a couple of years ago, but decided against it as we aren’t very litigious. But it’s an option I’ll keep under review.”
