Pinsents wins RSA HR, employment gig

Pinsent Masons has beaten off competition from Addleshaw Goddard and Eversheds to win an exclusive role advising insurer RSA on employment and HR issues.

Pinsents will carry out a review of RSA’s HR policy, which was previously managed in-house, and will also run the company’s tribunal arrangements and a helpline for day-to-day employment matters, as well as carrying out HR training.

It will do this on a mixture of fixed fees and cost-sharing arrangements.

This comes after The Lawyer revealed (20 July) that contract and facilities management company Serco is poised to carry out a panel review, with Pinsents tipped to win a sole advisory role for employment and HR.

In an unusual move normally seen in IT outsourcing arrangements, Pinsents has put together a service agreement stipulating key performance indicators, including specific response times to calls coming through the helpline and desired levels of user satisfaction.

This is a two-year appointment with the possibility of renewal for a further year.

As part of RSA’s main panel, Pinsents has advised the company for the past six years on a number of areas, including insurance and reinsurance, corporate, employment, dispute resolution, outsourcing, technology and commercial.
