London set 39 Essex Street is to open in Dubai later this year, The Lawyercan reveal.
It is understood the set will launch in the Middle East in November. The aim of the move is to better position 39 Essex Street in the global arbitration arena by giving barristers closer geographical links with the Dubai International Financial Centre.
An insider said: “David [Barnes, director of clerking] and Michael [Meeson, chambers director] have been out to Dubai a few times. It’s a very attractive proposition for an expanding set.”
Last month (20 July) The Lawyer revealed Outer Temple Chambers’ plans to expand into Saudi Arabia once domestic regulations allow it.
Meanwhile, 20 Essex Street and members of Essex Court Chambers are in advanced talks to take space in Singapore’s flagship arbitration centre.
