Eversheds has chopped the size of its in-house IT team by 40 per cent – from 200 employees to 120 – following the outsourcing of its daily operations.
The news comes as two of the IT experts who spearheaded the outsourcing, Malcolm Simms and Richard Leonard, are leaving to set up specialist legal IT company Konetica.
Simms said 80 staff had been transferred to the outsourcing company Computacentre in compliance with the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations.
Leonard added: “Outsourcing ensures the in-house IT team isn’t being bogged down with just making sure the lights work. It gives them time to think about innovations like bringing in better tools for mobility and work-life balance.”
The IT overhaul saved 15 to 20 per cent on Eversheds’ five-year IT budget, although this has been reinvested in technology.
