Margaret Bloom, competition enforcement director at the Office of Fair Trading (OFT), has left her post to join Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
Bloom, who retired from the OFT on 31 July, joins Freshfields as a consultant after six years in her post at the OFT.
Bloom started her career as an economist and held posts in industry and at the Department of Trade and Industry before joining the OFT.
Bloom has been outspoken on the role of law firms in competition cases in the past. In June she told The Lawyer that she does not think law firms should represent more than one company in a cartel or price-fixing investigation.
