Baker & McKenzie’s global private equity head Mark McNamara is set to leave the firm to join King & Wood Mallesons in Sydney as private equity head.
McNamara joined Baker & McKenzie’s Sydney office as a partner in 2000 and most recently served as the firm’s global head of private equity. The US firm has confirmed McNamara’s resignation. In its recent global management reshuffle, Baker & McKenzie appointed London-based Simon Hughes as its new global private equity head (9 October 2012).
McNamara has advised on numerous large-scale transactions. Most recently, he advised Ironbridge Capital on its sale of Barbeques Galore to Quadrant Private Equity in August 2012.
McNamara’s appointment is set to further strengthen King & Wood Mallesons’ private equity offering. The firm has been active in private equity transactions with Sydney-based partner Michael Barker being one of the leading partners. Highlights of King & Wood Mallesons’ private equity deals in 2012 include advising Nestlé Australia on the sale of Peters Ice Cream to Australian private equity firm Pacific Equity Partners and advising CHAMP Private Equity on its sale of International Energy Services.
McNamara declined to comment.
