Class action law firm Cohen Milstein Hausfeld & Toll has snapped up campaigns star Ingrid Gubbay from consumer association Which?.

Gubbay will be joining the US law firm as a consultant in its London office, which was launched in May.

“Cohen Milstein is the UK’s first claimant firm and is free of conflict,” said Gubbay. “There were other options, but those firms had conflicts. At Cohen Milstein I can get involved in actions that I want to.”

Gubbay broke new ground when launching the first representative action under the consumer association’s competition powers against JJB Sports for its involvement in a price-fixing cartel on replica football shirts.

Her innovation led to Gubbay winning third place in the In-house Lawyer of the Year category at The Lawyer Awards this summer.

Gubbay said she is leaving Which? as she wants to be at the forefront of the changes within collective redress.
