DLA Piper‘s Danish arm has split from the firm to avoid future conflicts after putting in place an ambitious growth strategy.
A spokesperson for DLA Piper said: “We’re no longer going to be working with them on an exclusive basis. They plan to expand massively, which could lead to conflicts in sectors which are quite key for us.”
DLA Piper’s Danish office made up half of DLA Nordic, with the firm’s Swedish practice forming the other half. DLA Nordic Denmark has now rebranded as Horten and will continue to be DLA Piper’s firm of choice in Denmark. DLA Nordic was part of the DLA Piper Group, but was not a merged entity.
Former DLA Piper Denmark managing partner Jens Bugge will lead the new firm, implementing an aggressive growth strategy. Horten plans to double in size to around 150 lawyers by growing in industry sectors such as pharmaceuticals.
