Dickinsons instructed on Prison Service PFI

The North East firm was invited to bid for the work along with Prison Service construction panel rivals Wragge & Co and Greenwoods.
A team led by partner Iain Greenshields advised on a 15-year deal to replace heating systems at nine major prisons in the UK. The scheme introduces energy-efficient systems as replacements for old boilers.
Greenshields said: “It was a fairly unusual scheme. There was no standardisation of documentation as there is on other PFI schemes.
“Our national reputation for PFI work is growing steadily, with more and more of our work coming from outside the region.”
Hammond Suddards Edge acted for the contractor on the deal, Cofathec Heatsave, and Devonshires represented the funder, the Royal Bank of Scotland.
