Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw has entered into a strategic alliance with Spanish law firm Ramón & Cajal, extending the firm’s foothold into Europe.
The US firm announced its tie-up with Madrid-based firm Ramón & Cajal today, a year after launching its alliance with Rome-based Tonucci & Partners.
Mayer Brown partner-in-charge of the Paris office Jean-Philippe Lambert told The Lawyer: “Ramón & Cajal is one of the best Spanish law firms and has the same standard as us.
“We believe that the tie-up will bring a lot of cross-selling between the firms and also a level of synergy between both firms’ clients. It is also a leader in capital markets, which is very good for us.”
In November, the Hong Kong Law Society finally approved the US firm’s Hong Kong practising licence, giving it its first Asian office with full legal capability. The firm already has a consulting office in Beijing.
