Five former Haarmann Hemmelrath partners have set up a spin-off firm, which is being launched in Düsseldorf this month.
According to German publication Juve, former Haarmann partners Christine Vogel, Guido Glörfeld, Torsten Grob and Ralf Lohmann have teamed up with White & Case partner Hans-Jörg Wittmann, who left Haarmann in 2002 for Simmons & Simmons.
The team is launching a spin-off firm later this month. They will be joined by a further eight professionals. The firm will specialise in areas including private equity and property fund work.
As first reported on www.thelawyer.com (6 January 2006), former name partner Wilhelm Haarmann set up his own practice (called Haarmann) with four other partners, while Ashurst poached a trio of insolvency lawyers from Haarmann for its London and Frankfurt offices (www.thelawyer.com, 4 January 2006).
Last year, Salans also snatched the Berlin office of the German independent firm. The Berlin team specialised in tax law and privatisations, but also offers advice in corporate, property, insolvency and employment.
