Move of the week


The group general counsel of Man Group Stephen Ross is to join Sidley Austin as co-head of London investment funds. Last month Man Group’s head of legal Jasveer Singh was promoted, following Ross’s departure from the FTSE 250 group. Ross was co-head of private equity funds at Clifford Chance along with Jason Glover, now of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, before he left for Man Group in January 2004. He started as global head of product structuring, financing and management, but by 2007 had become the group’s first general counsel.



Holman Fenwick Willan has welcomed a specialist construction team of three partners and seven associates to its London office. The team, which is led by partners Max Wieliczko, Michael Sergeant and Robert Blundell, joins from Maxwell Winward.

Dentons has added Michelle Bradfield as a partner in its international arbitration practice. She joins from Latham & Watkins, where she was a senior associate.

Hilary Meredith Solicitors has appointed Mark Fielding as a partner. Fielding joins from Roythornes Solicitors, where he was a partner and head of the military department, and will split his time between the firm’s Wilmslow and London offices.

Stewarts Law has added Christopher Deacon as a solicitor in its aviation and travel department. Deacon, who specialises in travel law and litigation, joins from Blake Lapthorn, where he trained, qualifying in 2011.

D Young & Co has added Matthew Dick as a partner in its trademark practice. He joins from Bristows, where he was an associate.

US firm Steptoe has hired Patrick Rappo as a partner in its London-based international regulation and compliance and litigation groups. He joins from the SFO, where he was joint head of bribery and corruption.

The London office of K&L Gates has hired Ania Farren as a special counsel in its international arbitration practice. She joins from Baker Botts, where she was a senior associate.


Black Country firm Higgs & Sons has taken on Kate Campbell-Gunn as a solicitor in its clinical negligence team. She joins from Hull-based Neil Hudgell Solicitors, having worked in its satellite office in Solihull.

Rothera Dowson has taken on Mike Sullivan as an associate in its real estate team. He joins from Shoosmiths, where he was a solicitor.


Mark Taylor has joined Grimsby firm Wilkin Chapman as business development manager in the firm’s debt recovery and insolvency department. He was previously client services director and head of department at Incasso, the recovery arm of failed firm Cobbetts that was taken over by HL Legal Solicitors when Cobbetts went into administration earlier this year.

Real estate lawyer Paula Dillon has joined the Leeds office of Dickinson Dees as a partner. She joins from Addleshaw Goddard, where she was also a partner.

Manchester firm Davis Blank Furniss has hired Kirsty Morbey as an assistant solicitor in its family department. She joins the firm’s Glossop office from Slater & Gordon, where she was a solicitor.

Langleys Solicitors has appointment solicitor Amir Mughal to its property litigation team. He joins from Yorkshire firm Lupton Fawcett Lee & Priestley, where he was also a solicitor.


Outsourcer Integreon has added Morgan Cole partner Jeff Wright as vice-president of global procurement and IT service delivery.

Morgan Cole has promoted Penri Desscan, Paula Kathrens and James Williams to partner. Desscan specialises in public and utilities procurement law, Kathrens is an employment lawyer and Williams is in the corporate team.


German firm Rödl & Partner has added tax lawyer Florian Haase as a partner in its Hamburg office. Haase returns to the firm from DLA Piper, where he was also a partner. He previously worked at Rödl between 2008 and 2011.


Hunton & Williams has added counsel Geneviève Michaux to its Brussels-based food and drug group, part of its life sciences practice. She joins from Covington & Burling, where she was an of counsel.

Chiomenti has appointed five new partners: Gregorio Consoli (finance), Luca Liistro (international business and trade), Antonio Tavella (finance), Raul-Angelo Papotti (tax) and Emanuele Barberis (labour).

Vinge has added Håkan Borgenhäll as a partner in its Stockholm office. The IP lawyer joins from Lindahl, where he has managed the firm’s IP rights group since 2009. At Vinge he will also head the IP rights group.

Middle East and Africa

DLA Piper international energy, infrastructure, and finance lawyer Alexander Sarac has relocated to Tanzania to undertake a secondment with IMMMA Advocates, a member of the DLA Piper Africa Group.

Squire Sanders has added Nadia Al-Anani as a senior associate in its Riyadh office. A banking lawyer, Al-Anani joins the firm from Hani Qurashi, which has an association with US firm Kilpatrick Townsend.


Cooley has added Wendy Goldstein as a partner in its New York healthcare and life sciences regulatory practice. She joins from Epstein Becker & Green, where she was a partner and chair of the firm’s healthcare and life sciences practice as well as its pharmaceutical industry health regulatory practice group.

K&L Gates has welcomed Michael Bryan and Julius Hines as partners in its Charleston office. They join the corporate/M&A and commercial disputes practices respectively. Bryan joins from Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, where was a partner and chair of the firm’s sustainable energy group, while Hines arrives from Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, where he was a leader of the firm’s admiralty and maritime practice group.


Chicago firm Arnstein & Lehr has added Matthew Cohn and Megan Pike as associates in its litigation practice. Cohn joins from Meckler Bulger Tilson Marick & Pearson, where he was also an associate, and Pike joins from Murphy Rosen & Meylan, where she was a business litigation law clerk.
