Addleshaw Booth & Co has poached Ashurst Morris Crisp client Brunner Mond, winning two new instructions in the process

Addleshaws will now be instructed by the company on all property matters.
“There's real experience in the regions and a cost saving to be had as well,” said Addleshaws commercial property partner Mark Haywood. “They [Brunner Mond] realised they were paying an awful lot to support some pretty expensive salaries and an expensive office.”
Addleshaws had recently been instructed by Brunner Mond, the UK's sole producer and supplier of soda products, on a small amount of litigation work, which Haywood said was a way to test the firm out before instructing it on property work.
Following the litigation work, Addleshaws was asked to make a formal presentation to the company for its property work. A month later it received two major inst-ructions on deals with a combined value of £100m.
The instructions include the creation of a 90-acre urban village on a brownfield site in Wallerscote and the development of an 'energy from waste' power plant at Lostock.
The company, which was formerly part of ICI, also has plants in the Netherlands and Kenya. Haywood said the firm hoped to work on overseas projects for the client in conjunction with local firms.
