DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary has appointed three corporate finance associates from Addleshaw Goddard in Manchester. Paul Rimmer, Nick Roome and Peter Hindle rejoin partner Darryl Cooke, who joined DLA Piper from Addleshaws last August.

Welsh firm Hugh James has strengthened its commercial property team with the hire of a new partner, Penny Cranston, from Capital Law. Cranston has experience in all aspects of commercial property law and has spent more than 15 years working in both Wales and London.

Scottish firm Anderson Strathern has elected Robert Carr as its new chairman. Carr, a dispute resolution partner, will replace incumbent Alan Menzies when he steps down on 1 May after nearly nine years in the role.

Tanzania’s Mkono & Co has hired Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer associate Bart Wilms. This is the second Freshfields lateral hire Mkonos has made after capital markets lawyer Steven De Backer joined as a partner last year. Wilms joins as a principal associate from Freshfields’ Brussels office. Mkono has also hired finance specialist Tara Blackham from Cobbetts.
