I was sorry to see Martin Mears defeated in the recent elections. At least he had the measure of Chancery Lane.

There are so many issues facing the profession these days, yet it seems that things will never change. While it is difficult to say what the Law Society should do, few speak well of it. Maybe they will argue that that is the nature of the beast.

I hope that with the new Government taking such an active interest in the profession, the Law Society can play a proud role, putting forth the views of the profession in a way which will get results. I have my doubts, but I am willing to give the current office bearers a chance.
