In brief: Lay people appointed to OSS committee

The Office for the Supervision of Solicitors has appointed three lay people and one solicitor to its compliance and supervision committee: Philip Davis, legal/industrial injuries officer at the General, Municipal and Boilermakers trade union, Manjot Dhanjal, senior urban policy officer with Birmingham City Council, Valerie Moore, former head of finance and resources at the National Consumer Council and John Lymbury, past chairman of the Sole Practitioners Group. The chair of the committee, Paul Pharaoh, described the lay members as guardians of the public interest. “It is the lay members who provide public confidence that our adjudication process is free of any bias,” he said.
