Are Scottish solicitors more sentimental than English or Welsh ones?
The question arose this week when Tulkinghorn was flicking through the latest copy of the Journal of the Law Society of Scotland. On page six, nestling alongside a High Court notice, is an advert encouraging Scottish lawyers to adopt a donkey.
The Scottish Borders Donkey Sanctuary – “Donkey Heaven” on earth, apparently – is seeking donations to help look after its family of donkeys and mules in need. There are some partners Tulkinghorn has heard being referred to as donkeys in his many years, but he suspects that in this case they actually do mean animals with four legs.
