Jones Day has poached Lovells employment partner Lisa Mayhew in a push for its London labour and employment practice.
Mayhew will join Jones Day later this year, along with fellow Lovells partner Mark Taylor who announced his resignation in June.
Mayhew successful defended Merrill Lynch against the £7.5m sex discrimination claim brought by former banker Stephanie Villalba. She specialises in data protection and discrimination issues.
Both Mayhew and Taylor became partners at Lovells in 2002, Mayhew joining from Charles Russell where she was also a partner. They leave the firm with a further three employment partners based in London and another five globally.
Lovells’ managing partner David Harris said: “We’re disappointed that Lisa is
leaving. But we still have a strong employment practice in London and have
plans to reshape it.”
