Stephenson Harwood: veterans day?
How many associates did Stephenson Harwood make up to partnership? It¹s not as easy a question as it appears.
The answer is six if you count promotions in the firms¹ complex arrangements and partnerships out in the Far East. And just four if you don¹t.
Jason Toms got the nod in the firm¹s joint-venture with Lo & Lo in Hong Kong, while Gregg Johnston added to the tally in Singapore, which is a separate local partnership.
Both Toms and Johnston are Stephenson Harwood veterans, having trained at the firm along with new London partner Ben Mercer.
So depending on how you look at it, either Stephenson Harwood has a respectable trainee-to-partner rate of 50 per cent, or a much more meager one of 25 per cent. And the same applies when you look at promotions outside of London.
But either way you look at it, the total is still less than the seven made up last year. And not a woman was among them.
Trainees: Sunny and rainy at the same time
International: Rainy and sunny at the same time
Women: Plain rainy.
